Steve Johnson graduated from SNU in 1993 and from Nazarene Theological Seminary with an MDIV in 1997.  He received his Ph.D. in Historical Theology from the University of Manchester in 2016. He is married to Kara (SNU grad 1992), and has two children, Abbagael (23, SNU grad 2021) and Zack (16). He served as lead Pastor for over 25 years in churches in Tennessee, Indiana, Texas, and Kansas City.  Since July of 2022 he has been the Professor of Theology at Southern Nazarene University. He enjoys reading, watching sports, and spending time with his family and his dog Zoe.
